About the Band

Somerset's premier jazz trio, JAZZMATAZZ, has been entertaining music lovers in and beyond this county for the last ten years.  The trio comprises Allan Boobyer on bass/vocals, Chris Luck on guitar/vocals and David Wright on saxophones and chromatic harmonica.  The music we perform mainly derives from The Great American Songbook featuring such composers as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Harry Warren, Johnny Mercer, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Rodgers and Hart, Duke Ellington and many more.  In addition to these 'swing standards' we also play Latin numbers and some Trad jazz.  Given sufficient notice, any of your favourite pieces of music (from any genre) can be arranged and performed on the day.

We have played at all sorts of functions and occasions including Weddings, Christenings, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Funerals (yes - Funerals!), Fetes, Corporate Functions, Sixth Form Bashes etc etc and we always get very good feedback.

David Wright also offers tuition in Saxophone and Chromatic Harmonica in Somerset.  Any grade of player is welcome from beginner upwards and Saxophone lessons can be just for fun or, if desired, can lead to examinations. Improvisation coaching is also offered on either instrument. Parents should note that a Full CRB Disclosure is held. Students of Chromatic Harmonica receive a complimentary instrument at their first lesson. So, give it a try – you've nothing to lose and everything to gain!
